Ethyl phenylacetate is a colorless or nearly colorless transparent liquid with a strong and sweet honey aroma. Insoluble in water, can be miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform. The preparation methods
Number 1
It is obtained by reflux reaction of phenylacetonitrile, ethanol and sulfuric acid. Ethyl phenylacetate can also be obtained by esterification of phenylacetic acid and ethanol with sulfuric acid. The yield is 90%. The other method is obtained by hydrolysis and esterification of phenylacetamide. And phenylacetic acid method: from phenylacetic acid and ethanol through esterification.
Number 2
In the reaction bottle with agitator and reflux condenser, 155mL 95% ethanol was added, 150g concentrated sulfuric acid was slowly added under cooling in ice water bath, and then 75g (0.64mol) benzyl nitrile was added, and reflux was heated for 8h after stirring. After cooling, pour 400g of ice water, separate the organic layer, add ether 75mL, wash with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution, wash with water, dry anhydrous calcium sulfate. You evaporate ether. The residue continued to be distilled, and the fractions of 225 ~ 229℃ were collected to obtain about 90g ethyl phenylacetate, with the recovery of 86%.
Number 3
0.2mol of diphenyl cadmium was added in a reaction bottle equipped with a blender, a thermometer and a drip funnel, and dried THF60mL was cooled in an ice bath. After stirring, 16.7g (0.1mol) of ethyl bromoacetate was slowly added in the solution of 15mLTHF. After adding, the ice bath continued to stir reaction for 10h. Excess saturated ammonium chloride solution was added for hydrolysis. Steam distillation. The collection of 150mL, mainly THF, was started, and there was little left after concentration. Another 400mL was collected as the second fraction. The latter fraction contains no carbonyl compounds but contains biphenyls. The second fraction was extracted by ether and vacuum distillation. The fraction of 66 ~ 71℃/80 ~ 133Pa was collected and 8.6g compound was obtained with 53% yield.
The main purpose
1. This is a synthetic spice with a distinctive, sweet rose scent. Widely used in tobacco, soap, daily cosmetics flavor, a small amount of white rose, trace for orange flower, sweet bean and honey fruit flavor, suitable for Havana type grass flavor. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce the barbiturate hypnotic lumina and can also be used as a solvent.
